Medical Assisting CLASS INFORMATION SHEET

A medical assistant works under the supervision of nurses or doctors in a healthcare facility providing technical, clerical, receptionist, and patient care support.

 

Requirements:

  • Copy of High School Diploma or GED and copy of Photo I.D.
  • $100.00 non-refundable Application fee – Paid by Entrance Exam date
  • $100.00 non-refundable seat deposit must be paid no later than two weeks prior to start date
  • Entrance Exam – TABE Test (Reading and Math)
  • Agreement to submit to a drug screen and criminal background check before clinical experience.

Entrance Exam Date:  Dates to be determined: School personnel will contact students for testing.    Application fee - $30.00 (non-refundable)

Deadline to register:  Two weeks prior to start of program

Class Starts:   September 2 and January 6 at 8:00 a.m.

Class meets:  Monday –Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 675 hours/12 weeks total including clinical hours.

Outside Cost:  Uniform, shoes and physical, parking reservation

Entrance Exam:  Photo ID required to be admitted into test, receipt from exam payment, #2 pencils and a calculator.

Special Note: Admission to the Medical Assisting class is based on test results as compared to other candidate’s courses. Class size is limited!! There will be an orientation on the first night of class to clarify requirements of the course.  Clinical experience hours will be set at that time, but students should plan for last 3 weeks/M-F 8hrs/day.

Financial Aid: Available to those who qualify.  FASFA must be completed for 2019-2020 school year at FAFSA.gov to be eligible for financial aid. Financial aid available will not cover all program costs. (Garnet School ID for FAFSA: 015675)

The Financial Aid Specialist is available on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the main office.  Part-time financial aid funding is allotted in the fall and spring, divided among all scheduled programs and all eligible students on a first come, first served basis.
